Paul Edward Andrews, Ph.D. passed away on January 28th in Grosse Pointe Woods at the age of 95. Son of Edward and Olga (nee Hirsch), he was born on April 11, 1923 in Detroit. Paul served for three years in both the Pacific and European Theaters with the US Army, which awarded him the Bronze Star with clusters. He made his career at Wayne State University, culminating in a position as Assistant Vice President of Alumni Affairs. He was a long time member of Triumphant Cross Church in St. Clair Shores, and a generous supporter of Wayne State University Athletics, and many Detroit cultural institutions.
Paul was predeceased by his beloved wife, Shirley, and dear son, Mark “Doc” Andrews. Loving father of Krysty (Paul) Schwikert. Cherished grandfather of Edward and Hollis Andrews, Shane and Brittany Schwikert, and Ashley Stentz.
A visitation will take place on Friday from 3pm to 8 pm at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Avenue at Vernier, Grosse Pointe Woods, 48236. A funeral service will take place on Saturday at 12 Noon at A.H. Peters Funeral Home.
