Given the cancellation of our annual end-of-the-season banquet, during which prize money is distributed to our members, this year, prize money associated with the above as well as weekly low-net awards will be paid by check and mailed to individual members. An additional $25 will be paid to each member as reimbursement for the banquet we were unable to hold.

Checks will be arriving in our members’ mailboxes during the next couple of weeks. If your mailing address has changed within the past several years, please notify Mark Jahnke at or call him at 313-882-0271. We want to make sure that your checks are mailed to the correct address!

Again, the members of the Golf Committee wish to thank all of you for your participation in the league this year. Let’s cross our fingers that the virus will be largely in our rearview mirror by the start of our 2021 season and we can all start getting back to “normal”. Have a safe, happy and healthy Holiday Season, everyone!

The Golf Committee

It is with a great deal of regret that we inform members of the Men’s Club of Grosse Pointe Golf League that the end-of-season Golf Banquet is cancelled. This annual finale of our golf season had been scheduled for October 8, 2020 at the Barrister Gardens in St. Clair Shores. It was the unanimous decision of the members of the Golf Committee to not proceed with the banquet in light of the uncertainties and certainties associated with the COVID-19 pandemic.

Given that expenses associated with the banquet are factored into the annual membership fee paid by members to the Golf League, we plan to reduce the fee for league membership for the 2021 season. The exact amount of the reduction will not be determined until prize money for the 2020 season has been calculated and distributed to league members.

Being truly a break-even operation (Golf Committee members receive no compensation for their time) the fee reduction will be the maximum possible after the math is computed!

Arghhh … it’s September already! Sadly, along with the end of summer comes the end of our golf season. All scores through Friday, September 18, 2020 will be collected and tabulated for league purposes. After that, you’re on your own with no more pressure to turn in your scorecards!

Despite the challenges that were placed on all of us by the pandemic this year, we hope that every member of the league was able to get out and enjoy the wonders of the outdoors, the camaraderie of your fellow golfers and some good shots (at least, now and then!). We hope to see all of you back in 2021, which has to be a better year, right?
